I don’t think anyone would have thought that places would be closed for this long…..
What’s Happening Now....
Behind the scenes we are concentrating on making sure that customers, some regulars, some new, can despite the lockdown still celebrate their special occasion or enjoy that treat, especially if they are missing our special afternoon teas. We are missing talking to you about the teas and brewing for you and letting you know where everything is from, but in the meantime we hope that you enjoy what we are offering. Not all of our suppliers are operating since they only service top quality hotels and restaurants and there was only us asking them for cakes! So, I’ve have been busy making cakes, meringues, chocolates eclairs, tea loaf, raspberry profiteroles and of course the scones & we’ve a couple of new suppliers, Joanne from Didsbury has made your Frangipanes & Lemon Meringues & we have finally been able to include Gary & Jemma’s Cheshire Cheese Cakes. You may also have seen that we have clotted cream direct from the farm. We are also working on things that will make the delivered afternoon teas even more special, such as china 3 tier stands to hire or pretty cardboard ones to purchase, maybe even a very special virtual pop up tea room gazebo to hire for your garden. Another thing, our website has been in desperate need of updating and we are working on that too.
In addition to that we have also been busy planting vegetables, lots of mowing, painting, mending the field shelter & currently fencing! So definitely keeping ourselves active!
We have completed a full risk assessment for re-opening the Tea Room considering what is needed to keep our customers and staff safe and some things require tradesmen/women as it is our intention to install sensor taps & sensor flushing toilets as part of changes.
You may know about our boat NB. Duke which normally would have been operating since March doing Afternoon Tea Private Cruises and Fish & Chip Evening Cruises, but we are not allowed to operate that yet. The Duke’s season finishes at the end of September, so we are most likely going to operate that part time, alongside the Keep Calm & Take Afternoon Teas @ Home, for private groups who are able to socialize (minimum 6, up to 12) during the day for a new Cream Tea 2hr cruise (scones & tea, but with a fully licensed bar) at £25pp or for the Full Afternoon Tea 4hr Cruise (see enclosed leaflet) £60pp (min £300 spend) or for a 2hr Fish & Chip evening cruise £25pp, so check our website and Facebook page and if you’ve not already done so, please like our page DavenportsFarm so we can keep in touch.
Davenports Tea Room Re-opening
It’s our intention to re-open in October, a couple of days per week initially prioritizing those of our customers who are holding gift vouchers or who have paid deposits, running the Keep Calm & Take Afternoon Tea @ Home alongside. Mid-Nov to end of Dec is when we normally operate our Victorian Christmas and we hope to do this both on a reduced capacity in the tea room, but also packaged in a box for you to enjoy at home, complete with themed cakes, mulled wine, crackers and our quiz and we hope to be able to bring back our popular combination version by then too. I may even deliver it to your door in Downton Abbey style costume!
All of what we are doing has been made possible because of those of you who have ordered our Keep Calm & Take Afternoon Tea @ Home, so we really can’t thank you enough for your continued support, especially since some of you have re-ordered them a number of times!
Have a great day, stay safe and we hope to see you again soon.
